Globe’s G Legends Cup: Gaming with compassion

Globe, together with its official mobile partner OPPO, introduced a special twist in its biggest amateur Mobile Legends tournament. In celebration of National G Day, gamers from all over the country will not only battle over 1,000 other teams for glory and honor but also share their winnings, amounting to P240,000 with their chosen community beneficiaries.

G Legends Cup is an amateur tournament exclusive for all Globe mobile and broadband customers 16 years old and above.

Aside from the main event, there are other side activities that customers can participate in. These include the creative low cost cosplay, AR filter of their favorite ML characters, and Discord Takeovers where fans can directly interact with organizers. Lucky fans who join these activities will get a chance to win exciting prizes from Globe and partners such as foodpanda and OPPO.

Octofinalist teams were asked to nominate one beneficiary from their community, such as a non-profit organization, a public school, or a special cause to benefit a community, a family, or a person in need. Each beneficiary will receive P40,000 in the form of a seed fund while the Tournament champion nominee will get P100,000.

By putting the spotlight on the local esports industry and esports athletes through G Legends Cup, players can now enjoy the game and even get a chance to uplift other people’s lives.

“Globe is once again celebrating 917 GDay, and part of it is the G Legends Cup. What is exciting about this year is that teams who will win in the tournament would not only be playing for their own but for their chosen beneficiaries. It is refreshing to have these amateur players showcase their talents for a good cause,” said Joey Kilayko, Head of Globe Rewards.

“Globe has always valued the social aspect of gaming. We see it as an avenue for players to build relationships, providing them a chance to bond and forge deeper ties with friends and family. We also see it as a way to help uplift other people’s lives, by providing moments of joy and comfort. In this year’s G Legends Cup, our customers will be able to enjoy playing Mobile Legends alongside their friends and families -- while providing them the opportunity to help their chosen beneficiaries.” said Rina Siongco, Head of Get Entertained Tribe at Globe.

Winners from the preliminary round will be announced via Globe Channels (GGWP and Globe FB) right after the game on September 21. The finalists will join the championship tournament via the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang App.

“We are happy to be collaborating and celebrating with Globe for its 917 GDay and the commencement of the G Legends Cup. This collaboration enables us further to fully enhance the brand and product experience of our OPPO users by bringing to life #GamingInPortrait with our ultra capable smartphones such as the #OPPOReno6 Series equipped with smarter AI gaming features,” said OPPO Philippines Vice President for National Sales Zen Han.

G Legends Cup is part of Globe’s 917 celebration called #GDayEveryday, hinged on giving the most concrete form of compassion customers can feel with rewarding experiences.

Globe is committed to upholding the United Nations Global Compact principles and contributing to 10 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG).
