    Extending a helping hand

Economic development has always been one of the goals of any government, whether that is local, regional, or national. However, there is no denying that not everyone will be fortunate enough to feel this economic growth in their daily lives.

Because of this, government units use outreach programs to help the ones most in need, supplying them from the basic necessities, to tools and equipment that would help make their livelihood easier and more productive.

The Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur has expanded its outreach program to include all 32 municipalities and 2 cities that comprises the region through the Capitol Outreach Program, Reaching Your Areas Now.

Ilocos Sur Governor Ryan Singson vowed that this outreach program will address the concerns of people living in the region despite the difficulties brought about by restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

"No one will be left behind, through this Capitol Outreach Program, Reaching Your Areas Now, we will materialize all your requests even this time of pandemic, both the municipal and the provincial government will strongly bond to fully deliver basic services to all" said Gov. Singson during the first day of the outreach program at Sigay Ilocos Sur.

The expanded outreach program will deliver assistance to individuals in crisis situations as well as free medical and dental consultations. It will also be distributing medicine free of charge as well as a free circumcision program for male children.

For farmers, the outreach program also distributed equipment such as harvesters, tractors, sprayers, corn and tobacco planters, diesel-powered water pumps, grass cutters, and fish feeds for fish cage operators.
