There’s a big chance the historic world junior bantamweight title clash between Filipino boxers--champion Jerwin Ancajas and his challenger Jonas Sultan--will take place in California.

Matchmaker Sean Gibbons said Top Rank chief Bob Arum is thinking of exposing Ancajas more in California where there is a huge number of Filipino residents.

"At the moment, we're waiting for our promoter Top Rank. Bob Arum has a tremendous vision coming up for Jerwin. He sees Jerwin fighting in the California market, up in San Francisco, maybe Los Angeles,” said Gibbons in Boxing Scene.

“The markets in California are big. I was privileged enough to do a fight there with Albert Pagara and Cesar Juarez in Daly City.”

The fight was originally slated as one of the supporting bouts of the Terence Crawford-Jeff Horn card on April 14. But the card was cancelled after Crawford suffered a hand injury.

Gibbons said the Ancajas-Sultan bout could push through between May and June.

"I foresee the fight happening in late May or in the beginning of June, in that time frame and we've had discussions with Bob, with Jerwin's management - Joven Sports - with Manny (Pacquiao),” said Gibbons.

The Ancajas-Sultan is seen to be the first all-Filipino title clash in nearly 100 years.
