Records were meant to be broken at Toyota Center tonight.

The Rockets pulled out their ninth straight win and defeated the Pelicans 122-100 in which several records were broken.

James Harden earned another triple-double, his second in a row, and his fifteenth of his career. With the triple-double, he passes Hakeem Olajuwon for most in team history. Considering Olajuwon had fourteen triple-doubles in sixteen years with the Rockets and Harden has had fifteen in just five years as a Rocket shows how brilliant of a basketball player he is and how the game has evolved.

Tony Parker ignited a fourth-quarter run for San Antonio to withstand a Boston comeback bid

Seemingly everything went right for the Spurs Wednesday night. To start, at least.

Kawhi Leonard finished with 16 points in the first half, Manu Ginobili canned a pair of triples, Tony Parker hit a couple jumpers and the visiting Boston Celtics were without everyday point guard Isaiah Thomas.

James Harden messed around and got another triple double in the Rockets’ blow-out victory.

James Harden finished with his fifth triple double on the season, and the Rockets knocked down 22 threes and also set a season high with 40 assists on their way to a 132-98 pounding of the Sacramento Kings and their eighth straight victory.

Harden’s line was 15 points, 11 rebounds and 14 assists in just 30 minutes of play, as he now is tied with Hakeem Olajuwon for the franchise lead in triples dips with 14. The Beard sat the entire fourth quarter, getting some additional rest with the blowout.

In the second game of their East Coast road trip, the Clippers match up with a Miami team that has won two in a row.

The Big Picture

After a disappointing stretch of 2-5 ball, the Clippers have reeled off three straight wins to right the ship and keep pace in an increasingly top-heavy Western Conference. Those wins may not have come against the most grueling competition (Pelicans, Blazers, and Magic), but an ability to beat the teams that you’re supposed to is one of those key characteristics of a contender, and the Clippers have been doing it well, winning 11 of 12 against teams under .500.

The Portland Trail Blazers held Russell Westbrook to his least productive performance in weeks en route to a 114-95 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder

The Portland Trail Blazers woke up from a nearly season-long malaise tonight and stomped Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Moda Center, 114-95. The Blazers desperately needed this win after losing four consecutive games, including a 121-120 heartbreaker to the Los Angeles Clippers last night.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Nets nation went all doom-and-gloom when they heard the news that Jeremy Lin would miss his 18th game of the season due to back tightness. Still, something we’ve learned with this Nets team: they fight no matter who is or isn’t in the lineup, win or lose.

The Brooklyn Nets (7-17) delivered the Los Angeles Lakers (10-18) their eighth straight loss, 107-97, Wednesday night at Barclays Center. The Nets almost blew a solid first half lead in the third quarter (again), but a huge 32-point fourth quarter propelled them over the struggling Lakers.

Draymond Green messed around and got his first triple double of the season.

WOW. This is why you watch all the games!

At the end of a grueling road trip, the Warriors and Pelicans delivered one of the most entertaining games of the year. The Pelicans were brilliant but not strong enough to overcome a powerful showing from the Warriors triumvirate (“quad”umvirate?) of stars. After a bumpy start, the Warriors delivered their best efforts right when they were needed the most.
