Various fundraising activities such as the annual Octoberfest Dinner and Dance are held for the benefit of medical missions in Negros Occidental. This year, the beneficiary is Kasinmanwa in Manapla where the activity will be done on January 2017. For the first time, the association will also launch the “Eye Felix” Reading Glasses Program which will provide reading glasses to elderly recipients.

The October Fest Dinner and Dance was a huge success, with Miss Irene Yatco leading the program. Performances included Kaleigh and Shaina’s dance number, Jessica and Meranda Sotana’s song numbers, Jessica and Nika’s dance number, and Raffy Ramiro’s sax/instrumental/song number.

“We are doing this because we love our kababayan back in the Philippines. we do not forget our roots and we teach our children to love where they came from, to always be proud to be a Negrense and a Filipino,” said Chris Sotana, the President of the association.

Natie Sotana, association Director, thanked the sponsors, advertisers, guests and friends and family for their continued support. The Sotanas own the Natie Sotana Canada Immigration Consultant and BC Happy Homes Immigration Services.

“Mabuhay po ang Negrenses Association of British Columbia, especially to the President Cris Sotana and Director Natie Sotana,” said Consul General Neil Ferrer, adding, “May your tribe increase and endure!” Reports from Senior Correspondent Christian Cunanan, Vancouver, Canada.
